On 6th September, Dartford Hockey Club gathered at Dartford Science and Technology College (DSTC) for our annual Club Day. This event is always a fantastic way to bring together our current members, umpires, supporters, and anyone new looking to return to hockey or try something different.
This year we were thrilled to have 39 players join us, including 7 new faces keen to get involved with the club!

We kicked off the day with a warm welcome from our Chairperson, Jenni Davis, who outlined the plans ahead. After that, we got moving with a gentle jog around the pitch, followed by a full stretch session led by our Coach, Kyle. Once warmed up, Kyle put us through our paces with a bit of extra running to really wake up our hockey muscles!
Next, we split into small groups for a series of drills, including passing exercises and 2v2 practice, before moving into teams 1s, 2s, and 3s. The team drills focused on attacking and defending as well as quick passing and movement between teams.
After the drills we moved onto a series of mini games, with players divided into eight mixed ability teams. It was brilliant to be back on the pitch, enjoying some competitive fun and reconnecting as a club.

After a great session of hockey, we wrapped up the day with a trip to Hesketh Park, our current after-match teas venue. There, all the teams contributed to a fantastic lunch spread and enjoyed catching up off the field.
Now we’re buzzing with excitement for the new season to start on Saturday 20th September. Let the fun begin!
